Warid's youth based cellular brand Glow by Warid has announced an exciting campaign, "Dosti Ke Rung", celebrating its core ideology of providing youth entertainment and value.

Glow’s ‘Dosti Ke Rung’ movement is based on the premise of providing groups of friends with an opportunity to come and enjoy its uniquely designed on-ground activities.

These special activities will be taken on-ground live with customised Warid Glow activity areas in select colleges, universities, shopping and entertainment venues across Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Glow’s celebration officially begins with the brand new ‘Dosti Ke Rung’ music video being aired across all major local networks, promoting the colours of friendship.

On Glow’s sustained efforts to create avenues for entertainment and engaging the youth, Director Marketing Warid Sadaf Zarrar said, “Warid launched Glow for the very purpose of providing the youth with the most competitive voice and data packages, as well as providing entertainment across various platforms. To this end, Glow has organised as well as partnered with a diversity of events encompassing education, music, theatre, sports and games. With the ‘Dosti Ke Rung’ campaign, we want to further our commitment to the youth and promote positivity within the youth, and bring something fresh and new.”

Brand Manager Glow Saud Khan while giving his comments said, “Glow is a brand targeting the youth of the country and we as a brand understand what “Dosti” means to our audience. The ‘Dosti Ke Rung’ campaign is our way of rejoicing with the youth and showing that we are an integral part of their friendship circle.”

These new initiatives by Glow come at a time when planned activities for the youth are few and far between, and with this, Glow encourages youngsters to come forward and participate in their specially-planned events that will be taking place during March and April across the major cities of Pakistan.

Under IBM's Academic Initiative program, a three days training on DB2 Academic Associate Certification was conducted for the students of FAST NU Karachi (FAST: Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology).

The DB2 certification program teaches relational database concepts while also providing students with critical, hands-on database skills on IBM's DB2 9.7 and Data Studio software.

The basic idea behind this activity was to overcome skill shortage and to produce certified resources for IBM's products. It’s a win-win situation through which students can increase their employability for IBM's technology, while IBM wants to build the technical skills in order to bridge the gap between market demand and available resources.

Students were trained on practical usage of DB2. Candidates who passed the certification exam are allowed to submit their resume in IBM's student opportunity system (SOS) database, which in turn allows IBM managers to search their resumes and gives the students more employability for the cutting edge technology.

This, free of cost, skill building classroom session, held on 31 December, 2011 was attended by 120 students.

This course is for undergraduate computer science or computer engineering students who have taken (or are concurrently taking) a relational database course. Graduate students in engineering or business who already have relational database knowledge and instructors who teach the course can also take this course and the certification exam.

A new (NYSE: IBM) IBM survey of more than 28,000 consumers released recently – the largest global survey of its kind – found that, overwhelmingly, consumers are looking for a more personalized shopping experience and are willing to share select details about themselves with their favorite retailers, in order to educate brands on exactly how, when and where to approach them.

Just as we chat with our local shopkeeper, consumers are willing to dish to retailers about their media usage (75 percent); demographics (73 percent); identification, such as name and address (61 percent); lifestyle (59 percent); and location (56 percent) for a more targeted and smarter shopping experience.

Consumers are telling IBM that they actually want to receive more communication – not less – but they want it to be delivered through preferred media channels and in a relevant way.

Increasingly, savvy retailers are responding to this need and using sophisticated technology to make sure every interaction with customers is spot-on, based on individual preferences, location and lifestyle.

IBM's ongoing research shows that retailers must provide clear compelling reasons to shop; deliver personalized offerings and reach shoppers when and where they prefer, in order to win over their wallet share. According to the research above, consumers are more than willing to give retailers the data to make this experience possible.

At the same time, the rapid influx of digital data is posing new challenges for retailers. Customers are sharing their experiences widely online, giving them more control and influence over brands.

A recent IBM CMO study of more than 1,700 chief marketing officers from 64 countries and 19 industries revealed that the majority of the world's top marketing executives recognize a critical and permanent shift occurring in the way they engage with their customers, but question whether their marketing organizations are prepared to manage the change. This shift requires new marketing approaches, tools and skills to effectively reach customers.

"The speed of technology innovation, consumer adoption and access to information has created an environment where everything is known and the consumer is truly the one in power, coalescing around shopping communities of 'we,'" said Jill Puleri, Global Retail Leader, IBM Global Business Services.

"Retailers can win over this empowered consumer based on re-establishing a trusted relationship and building loyalty through improving the store environment, product assortment and store communications."

How Technology Can Help ?

With the volume of conversations happening online, retailers need to listen and learn to their customers using sophisticated analytics technology to gain insight and adjust their marketing messages to address what they are hearing on the wire. Retailers must now deploy an evolved strategy for redefining the customer experience to deepen the brand relationship and create brand advocates who will promote the retailer to others. At the same time, retailers must improve operational efficiency in order to protect profitability and enhance agility.

IBM Retail Analytics solutions help retailers segment customers; tailor offers, promotions and communications; and create greater loyalty and retention through a seamless brand experience. IBM technology also allows retailers to analyze consumer behavior to improve their overall shopping experience and their business operations. - PR

Biographies:
Timur’s generally recognized biographers are Ali Yazdi, commonly called Sharaf ud-Din, author of the Zafarnāmeh (Persian: ظفرنامه‎), translated by Petis de la Croix in 1722, and from French into English by J. Darby in the following year; and Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abdallah, al-Dimashiqi, al-Ajami (commonly called Ahmad Ibn Arabshah) translated by the Dutch Orientalist Colitis in 1636. In the work of the former, as Sir William Jones remarks, “the Tatarian conqueror is represented as a liberal, benevolent and illustrious prince”, in that of the latter he is “deformed and impious, of a low birth and detestable principles.” But the favourable account was written under the personal supervision of Timur’s grandson, Ibrahim, while the other was the production of his direst enemy.
Among less reputed biographies or materials for biography may be mentioned a second Zafarnāmeh, by Nizam al-Din Shami, stated to be the earliest known history of Timur, and the only one written in his lifetime. Timur’s purported autobiography, the Tuzk-e-Taimuri (“Memoirs of Temur”) is a later fabrication, although most of the historical facts are accurate.
More recent biographies include Justin Marozzi’s Tamerlane: Sword of Islam, Conqueror of the World (2006) and Roy Stier’s Tamerlane: The Ultimate Warrior (1998).

Karachi Electric Supply Company, as part of its fuel diversification, green electricity generation and sustainable development vision, is planning the development of one of the world’s largest Bio Waste to Energy Project of its kind near the Landhi cattle colony situated in Karachi, said a statement issued by the company.

This plant is likely to have the potential of generating up to 22 MW of electricity fueled from biogas alone.

A localized Biogas plant is a socio-economically sustainable venture and reliable in comparison to wind or solar, which are vulnerable to extraneous variables, biggest being weather conditions. The Landhi Biogas project in Karachi will not only generate up to 22MW of green power but will also be producing up to 300 tons/day (tpd) of organic fertilizer as a meaningful by product.

This organic fertiliser has special application in place of eroded soil which has lost it’s utility and where standard urea fertilizer won't be effective. In addition to the above, this eco-friendly energy unit will also earn a significant amount of carbon credits, thereby making this Project economically viable.

Under this sustainable, renewable energy project, up to 4,200 tons of bio-degradable waste will be collected on a daily basis largely from cattle farms in Landhi (feedstock) and organic food waste from industries, food outlets and wholesale markets (co substrates) throughout Karachi.

Under the signed memorandum with Karachi Dairy Farmers Association in December last year, the Association would provide 3,500 to 4,000 tons of cattle waste on a daily basis to KESC to be used as feedstock to produce biogas required for electricity generation.

This landmark step will facilitate waste collection studies, project implementation and rollout of many socio-economic initiatives in the Landhi area of Karachi.

KESC has also signed an agreement with biogas technology providers M/s Highmark Renewables (HRR Canada) for onsite technical studies (Phase I) leading to project plant design, which now stand completed.

During May to July 2011, HRR conducted on-site feasibility analysis using HRR’s patented technology to produce biogas.

The initial trial runs have demonstrated that the customized ‘recipe’ and feed plan are feasible, yielding significant amounts of biogas during the trial run.

Currently, KESC is moving into the Phase II of the project.

This phase entails activities which include land development, and developing, waste collection mechanisms, Gold standard carbon credits, formation of strategic partnerships and financial close.

Furthermore, KESC is looking for ways to engage private and public sector entities for provision of benefits to the residents and workers of the Landhi Cattle Colony.

At the moment a ‘social needs assessment’ is in progress and going forward, the project team is looking towards evolving a mechanism to ensure that the benefits can be provided to the society in a sustainable fashion.

KESC is looking forward to working with the local / city government and leading national and international NGOs, for developing a mechanism to successfully roll out this and other similar CSR initiatives.

It depends upon the situation that what type of the crime the criminal has done Some time Punishment makes more crimes to come accross as we know that Politeness can do the best and can change the behaviour of a person Cruelty or Punishment can increase the chances of more crimes sometimes If the person confess that he will not do that crime again But People do Mistakes and continue to do so. Forgiveness and giving a chance is better than punishment But if the criminal vu solutions dot com dont give up crime at any cost then punishment becomes necessary So we can Say that It depends upon the type of the crime and the nature of Criminal that He needs punishment or not So for the betterment of society Sometimes Punishment is necessary. It maintains peace in society and do justice. After Punishment Criminals never dare to Do so bad as they have done before atleast.
..............................
i think that whenever a person is doing a bad job or making crime in the society then the law is trying to giving him the punishment for doing that and according to law whenever someone making crime then there is a punishment for his crime , as crimes are of different type so there is different punishment according to the crime. there is the point that after getting the punishment the person leave that crime or not? usually the person is not leaving the crime after getting the vu solutions dot com punishment because it is in the nature of a person but accordingly psychology it is possible that the person don't make the crime again. so Yes, of course punishment reduces crime. Punishment converts criminal activity from a paying proposition to a nonpaying proposition (at least sometime), and people respond accordingly.
....................

An unpleasant or painful stimulus whose introduction following a certain behaviour decreases likelihood that the behavior will occur again.

An aversive stimulus that decreases the p of the behavior that precedes it Government needs to develop and implement prevention programs aggressively, taking care to learn from experience. Research and evaluation must be important elements in all prevention efforts.

A cost-effective approach to crime requires more than punishment. A country cannot jail away its crime problem by warehousing criminals, young or old. It vu solutions dot com cannot solve crime solely through deterrence, or by "shocking" trouble-prone youth or "scaring them straight." Rather, to help children and youth grow into productive, constructive adults, they must be supervised, supported, educated, encouraged, cared for and given opportunities to contribute. And they must have positive opportunities for recreation, exploration, and personal growth.

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) is leading all operators in the country by providing to consumers the highest quality Broadband Internet service, according to the second nationwide Quality of Service (QoS) 2011 survey conducted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Released last week, the PTA survey places PTCL in category A (more than 95%) at Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta, and in category B (more than 80%) at Karachi for the 1Mbps wire-line broadband service.

The survey was carried out in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Muzaffarabad for categories of 512Kbps and 1Mbps in both wire-line and wireless broadband services offered by different operators.

The survey measures operators’ overall performance based on PTA’s key performance indicators (KPIs), including service availability, download and upload bandwidth speed, round-trip time, and service retain-ability.

“Pakistan is the world’s 4th fastest growing broadband market, and PTCL is the country’s single largest broadband service provider with 95% market share,” said Senior Executive Vice President, Naveed Saeed. “In line with the Government’s vision for Broadband growth in Pakistan, we are leading the country’s broadband revolution from the front by making this technology affordable through lowered entry barriers; by geographically bringing the service within the reach of a common user across the country; and by continuous improvements in customer care.”

The PTA terms Broadband as “a significant economic stimulus for any country”, and PTCL DSL is spearheading its exponential growth in Pakistan with a footprint in over 1,100 cities and towns. PTCL is the world’s first operator to introduce “UltraNet” using VDSL2 bonding technology with speeds up to 50mbps on a copper network; and it has deployed the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology.

Last year, PTCL again became the world’s first operator to commercially launch 3G EVDO Rev B service. In the form of EVO NITRO, it gives consumers the market’s maximum speed of 9.3MBPs. PTCL has Pakistan’s largest and fastest growing 3G EVDO wireless broadband network, with connectivity and roaming in nearly 200 cities.

“PTCL is one of the most progressive data connectivity providers of the world and Broadband is now a driver for Pakistan’s national GDP,” said Mr. Saeed. “We have a responsibility to develop Pakistan’s technology and data network for establishing the echo system conducive for our country’s economic growth and social uplift, and PTCL is fully primed to facilitate that.”

The first to bring to Pakistan EVO dongles with Internet connectivity, PTCL has followed by launching its innovative 3G EVO Wi-Fi Cloud to connect multiple Wi-Fi devices simultaneously and the first ever PTCL 3G Android EVO Tab with built-in wireless broadband offering Internet connectivity on the go.

This month, PTCL launched Pakistan’s first 3G enabled Android Smartphone, IVIO Icon Pro that offers dual support for both EVDO and GSM/CDMA network.
