Huawei granted UET Lahore the Authorized Learning Partner status for Datacom Networking Training and Certification. Huawei under this contract is providing its latest networking equipment to UET Lahore worth US$0.5M.
A graceful ceremony took place in UET Lahore where Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecom Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan, Chief Technology Officer Huawei, Mr. Collin Hu, Advisor Huawei Mr. Nasim Ahmed Usmani, Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Let. Gen Muhammad Akram Khan, Deans of Faculties & Professors from UET, Lahore and other dignitaries were present. The Contract was signed on 29 of July, 2011 - Lahore.
Director Huawei-UET Telecom and IT Center Dr. Waqar Mahmood briefed the audience with regards to Huawei-UET Telecom Center established with the help of $8M USD worth of equipment from Huawei Technologies. The Center is now the largest training facility of its kind from Huawei Technologies China, in Pakistan. The center has been providing trainings in the latest wireless equipment to industry professionals and students of universities from all over Pakistan.
Based on the success of telecom training program, Huawei decided to provide HUTIC with Networking equipment worth US$0.5M. This equipment will enable HUTIC to launch courses in Datacom area on Huawei equipment for the first time in Pakistan. Huawei also decided to grant HUTIC the Huawei Authorized Learning Partner status for the networking training and certification in Pakistan.
Vice Chancellor UET Lahore welcomed guests from China and briefed audience with regards to UET long standing relationship with Huawei Technology. The company selected UET for setting up the telecom center after evaluating various engineering institutes in the country. UET provided spacious facility for the center and promises more lab space for its expansion.
Colin Hu, CTO Huawei introduced the new technologies provided by Huawei for Enterprise solutions. The technology is being introduced for the first time in Pakistan and is expected to generate a major shift in enterprise networking solutions in Pakistan towards Huawei solutions. The Center will generate certified engineers in this technology for the whole country and the region. This center is the living example of friendship of China and Pakistan.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan, Federal Secretary, Ministry of IT and Telecom highly appreciated the efforts of Huawei and UET Lahore in bringing the latest technology in the academic setting making it available for students from all over Pakistan. The contribution of Huawei to the telecom industry and now the enterprise market in Pakistan is of great importance.
The establishment of datacom centre and UET status of Authorized Learning Partner will further promote the technology transfer objective of this centre. I congratulate Huawei and UET for the success of this collaboration. Such a remarkable success of HUTIC essentially boosts the Pak-China friendship. The ministry of IT & Telecom will support and encourage other universities and equipment vendors to initiate such ventures. This will eventually accelerate the provision of competitive and skilled students and professionals, to the IT & Telecom industry.
