Sindh Police to track Criminals by Cell Phones

The Standing Committee on Interior is going to equipt the Sindh Police with the GSM CLIS technology (a tool for investigation) to trace terrorists and criminals via mobile phones.

The Standing Committee on Interior will support the Sindh police in getting GSM Caller Location Identification System, considering its importance in the investigation of terrorism-related cases and heinous crimes like kidnapping for ransom.


Technology for Detecting criminals via Mobile Phones: During a meeting of the Standing Committee on Interior held under the chairmanship of MNA Abdul Qadir Patel at the Central Police Office yesterday, which was attended by Sindh IG Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak, Capital City Police Officer Karachi, CID Additional IG and Special Branch; Zonal DIGs CCP; DIGs of CID, SB Investigation, Head Quarters and AIG operations Sindh, a consensus was reached to provide the Sindh’s Police the technology to track criminals through mobile phones. The other members of the committee who attended the meeting included MNA Bushra Gohar, MNA Waseem Akhtar and MNA Muhammad Wardag.

Peace Committees: Peace committees have been organised at identified police stations, strong pickets established and work has been geared up on intelligence network at local police stations to control killing of innocent people and arrests of those involved.

Recommendations to Improve Policing: The chairman and members of the standing committee appreciated the efforts of the Sindh police in maintaining the law and order situation following the pro-active policing. The standing committee assured the Sindh IGP that all of their recommendations would be taken up at the federal level and decided to further improve policing in the province.
