“Prime minister has given approval in principle to set up IT campuses all over the country,” he said while addressing the 2nd Convocation of Virtual University of Pakistan here after conferring degrees to the passed out students.
“Virtual University is expected to play a significant role in this important nation-building exercise,” he maintained.
He assured the university authorities that he will take up the case with the government to make one full transponder available to Virtual University on PAKSAT absolutely free of cost to support its efforts to provide affordable world class education in every corner of the country.
“It is for the first time in the history of the country that students in small towns like Badin, Digri, Ghotki and Shikarpur are exposed to the lectures delivered by best faculty of the university,” he pointed out.
He said the Parliament and present government has aimed at improving literacy level and spreading education in order to utilise knowledge as a vehicle of progress, development and enlightment.
“Quantitative and qualitative growth can take place through use of technology for the dissemination of education for students across the country,” he maintained.
The Senate Chairman said that innovative mode of delivery for teaching and instructing large number of students has made Virtual University mode of education most effective not only for Pakistan but also for other developing countries.
Secretary Information Technology and Chairman Board of Governors Virtual University Saeed Ahmed Khan and Rector of the University Dr Naveed Malik were also present on the occasion. app
