The elders of Wazir tribe, local Taliban and members of peace committee on Tuesday unanimously decided to impose a ban on the use of mobile phone with camera in the headquarters of South Waziristan Agency (SWA).

A grand jirga of the tribal elders, local Taliban loyal to Maulvi Nazir group and members of peace committee in Wana Bazaar was held.

It announced ban on the use of cellphone’s camera in Wana, saying that mobile phone camera was the cause of spreading obscenity in the area.

It was also decided to levy impose Rs 10,000 as fine on anyone found using the cellphone’s camera in the area after announcement and Rs 25,000 on those belonging to the peace committee or elders of the tribe. The fine will be deposited to the peace committee.

This was also decided that the locals were free to use simple phone.
