GLOW 3rd Inter School & Inter Collegiate Games Conclude

Punjab Olympic Association’s games
Recognizing the importance of games amongst youth, Warid Glow sponsored 3rd Inter school and Inter collegiate games which concluded last week.

This is one of the largest games event in which over 225 schools and colleges from both private and government sector participated.

Addressing the closing ceremony Mr. Aamir Hameed, Head of Sales Operations and Trade Marketing said “Warid has always been firmly committed to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. The support we have extended to 3rd Inter School and Inter collegiate games 2010 further underlines our ambition to ensure the welfare of our youth. The young leaders involved in these games have demonstrated excellent skills and leadership and the role of Punjab Olympics Association is admirable. Warid is always a step ahead in promoting youth talent and to inculcate their interest in games so we can produce the champions of tomorrow who can represent Pakistan at International Level.”

In girl’s singles (Schools) semi finals, Fareeha Imtiaz (Unique H/S) beat Nirma Azeem (Govt. Girls H/S Samnabad) 21-8, 21-10. Zara Tariq (Garisson Academy Cantt) Beat Alishah (BSS D.H.A) 22-20, 21-12 School girl’s doubles semi finals: Hafsa & Shahrakh (City School Gulberg) Beat Aiman & Iqra (BSS Canal Side) 21-12, 21-12, Zartab & Kiran (LGS M.T) Beat Nusrat Amin & Dur- e-Zahra (Aligarh Pub. H/S) 21-5, 21-6. In baseball, Punjab College beat GCU while Superior College was third. In schools softball, LGS Shah Jamal beat sister organization from Gulberg for first place while Alma College got the third place. Govt Girls High School Samanabad won the school girls volleyball beating Kinnaird School.

Ghazala Tariq was declared the best player. GC Samanabad won the inter collegiate title. Wahdat Road college and Cooper Road College were places second and third and Huma Bashir was the best player. In gymnastics, Govt Central Model won the team event while City School was second and Lahore Garammar School Johar Town was third. Nawaz Ahmed of City School Gulshan Ravi was the winner in individual floor event. Khalil Farooq of Central Model was second and Jalil Farooq third. Nawaz also won the pole vault title while Johnson James of Salamat was second and Central Model School’s Khalil was third. GCU won the inter-collegiate gymnastics event followed by Punjab College and Islamia College Civil Lines at second and third places of team events respectively.
