Nokia delays the delivering of its flagship smartphone, the much awaited N8 that was promised earlier for September end delivery.

Nokia needs few more weeks to ship the smartphone which points to the challenges faced by the company by Stephen Elop’s taking over as chief executive of Nokia. He replaced Olli-Pekka Lallsvuo to provide the much needed edge to Nokia over Google’s Android market and Apple’s iPhone range.

Advantage of Pre-Christmas Selling Season: The launch of Nokia N8 was originally scheduled for June which later got delayed to September. Nokia expressed its optimism to start shipping N8 by the end of third quarter. But Nokia is very anxious to take maximum advantage of the important pre-Christmas selling season and wants to deliver the N8 to the market just in time.

Making Final Adjustments: Nokia has also committed to remove any glitches in the N8 so that the initial review of the product hits the bull’s eye and place it against its smartphone rivals such as iPhone, HTC, Motorola and Sony Ericsson that use Android OS.

Nokia Expects N8 to Bring Back Market Shares: Nokia N8 was showcased at its annual Nokia World Event and the new smartphone got the most pre-orders the company has had for a product. In its official blog Nokia said that it advised its pre-order customers that they should expect their new Nokia N8 in October. The mobile maker believes that N8 will help it bring back the market share it lost since 2007 when Apple launched iPhone. Nokia share registered a shrink to over 60% since iPhone was unveiled.

Nokia’s New Generation Mobile Set: Nokia N8 which is compared against big smartphone players like Sony Ericsson, HTC and Motorola comes with a 12 MP camera and high definition video streaming. It is company’s first model based on the new generation Nokia Symbian software and offers integration to all social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and more on the top screen.
