RIM’s Introduces BlackBerry Internet Service 3.2

Research in Motion, which is a Canadian mobile phone manufacturing company, introduced the latest version of its BlackBerry Internet Service, i.e, BIS 3.2, last week but they did not announce any detail or information about its release date.

It s suggested that RIM would launch the BlackBerry Internet Service 3.2 on October 2nd, albeit it seems that the roll-out has already begun in some mobile markets, e.g Australia. The previous version of BIS, viz BlackBerry Internet Service 3.1, was announced officially in May this year.

What is BIS Service? BIS is the service that was designed to offer access to email messaging, instant messaging, Internet browsing, and more for BlakcBerry users out there. The service can deliver to its subscribers email messages for a number of up to ten email accounts on their BlackBerry smartphones.

Features of BIS 3.2: Some of the main features BlackBerry Internet Service 3.2 comes with include:

•Calendar synchronization: Two-way synchronization of Google calendar entries and entries in the Calendar application on the smartphone. According to RIM, the two-way synchronization of Google calendar entries requires BlackBerry Device Software 5.0.0.176 or later.
•Automatic Log-in Enhancements: Includes support for BlackBerry Device Software 4.6 and earlier. BlackBerry smartphone users who use a user name and password to access their BlackBerry Internet Service accounts no longer have to type their user name and password on their smartphones to manage their email addresses.
Show and hide password option. Users can choose to show or hide the passwords for all email addresses that need to be validated by clicking once on the Show password or Hide password.
•New Password Criteria: Newly created passwords for BlackBerry Internet Service accounts and BlackBerry email addresses must meet new criteria: include 8-16 characters, include at least one letter and one number, cannot include the word “password”, cannot include the user name of the BlackBerry Internet Service account or BlackBerry email address that the password is associated with.
