This was stated by CEO Ufone, Abdul Aziz at the launch of ‘My First Mobile Internet Screen’ on Friday. At the launch event, Nokia's General Manager Imran Khalid was also present.
“Yes, the increased tax burden is hampering the growth of the cellular sector but keeping in view the economic difficulties, one should not expect the government to reduce the tax burden. We are not approaching the government in this regard,” Aziz said.Answering another question about the difference between upcoming 3G services and the internet service launched by Ufone in collaboration with Nokia, Abdul Aziz said, “There would be a different spectrum used for 3G services that would have more speed for transferring data communication while we are using the existing spectrum under which the speed of internet would be slow.”
‘My First Mobile Internet Screen’ is a joint initiative under which Nokia handset mobiles will have internet service anywhere in Pakistan by Ufone. The package deal will provide internet facility by Ufone on Nokia C1 sets. The service will be pre-configured on these devices.
