This specialized status gives an individual or company international recognition and demonstrates in-depth knowledge and command over using Google’s advertising platform ‘Adwords.’
Mudassar is a software engineer and before him, there was no individual or company in Pakistan bearing Google advertising partner status.
The Google(tm) Adwords Certified Partner status is awarded by Google(tm) to an individual or company which has individually passed a minimum of two Google certification exams or have an employee who has passed these exams illustrating practical expertise in managing Google advertising accounts.
In addition to this, individual or company must have managed at least a 10,000 dollars advertising spanning over 90 days period.
Mudassar is very hopeful about the future of Internet and online marketing in Pakistan. “Internet users are growing every minute in Pakistan. No business can now ignore the potential of Internet marketing. Businesses lagging behind in adopting Internet technologies will eventually suffer. I am very optimistic about the future of online marketing in Pakistan both as a career and in terms of business investment,” he said.
In October last year, the 28-years-old Mudassar individually qualified for Google Advertising Professional by passing Google certification exams. Now he has become Pakistan’s first and only Google Adwords certified partner. In India there are 21 certified partners whereas there are hundreds of them globally. Now as Pakistan has also got one Google certified advertising partner, it can help the local IT industry in the field of Internet marketing.
“This can foster local online advertising spending as well as foreign exchange through international projects in the field of internet marketing and advertising,” says Mudassar. In his opinion, this can further increase advertising spending on Internet by local companies particularly on search engines and social networks. Mudassar does not want his achievement to stop here and encourages youth to join this field. He himself is imparting training to three young IT professionals.
“Our engineering programmes and IT degrees do not cover much emerging fields like Internet marketing and modern web technologies. Because of this, when our IT graduates come in the market they cannot fill international job positions in these fields as they do not have required knowledge and skills,” he said.
He suggested that universities should upgrade their degree programmes and include courses on Internet marketing so that Pakistani IT graduates not just compete globally but can also start businesses and earn foreign exchange for their country by winning foreign projects. “Government should also support the field of IT and provide necessary infrastructure so that entrepreneurship can be encouraged and new jobs be created in this field,” Mudassar, who works as a senior consultant for a private firm in Islamabad, said.
On achieving this international status, Mudassar says,
“I am very happy on achieving this status and dedicate it to my country.”He believes that Pakistan needs more and more experts in this field to grab business in the international market.
